Fiber DAS Systems

Axell Wireless has over 20 years experience of designing and providing fiber optic coverage systems today known as DAS (distributed antenna systems).  Since Axell’s early days the company has been pioneering the use of fiber optics to carry RF signals and utilise the technology to propagate wireless coverage around buildings, tunnels, metros and other infrastructure complexes.  Today Axell has designed and supplied DAS systems into over 100 countries and Axell DAS equipment is used in many of the world’s leading buildings, metros and tunnels.

A fundamental design criteria of Axell DAS equipment from day one has been to provide equipment with high performance fiber optics that facilitate rapid throughput and low noise.  Equally Axell DAS systems are broadband in nature and cover frequency ranges from FM through to 2.7GHz. As such Axell is the only leading global DAS manufacturer that provides a combined DAS solution encapsulating public safety and cellular bands in one OMU (optical master unit or “head end”) device.  This enables network operators, enterprises, and transportation or public safety authorities to operate one integrated DAS with a mixture of different remotes including but not limited to VHF, UHF, 700/800MHz, cellular, AWS, PCS , CDMA, WCDMA and LTE thus providing coverage for a variety of services throughout the environment.  An integrated DAS architecture reduces both initial deployment and ongoing operational costs.

Axell’s DAS systems consist of OMU hubs or “head ends” which are connected to a variety of remotes depending upon the frequency band and wireless technology being utilised. Axell DAS systems support all major frequency bands and wireless technologies including those used in cellular and public safety networks. A variety of remote power levels are available to meet the needs for different coverage environments.

In addition, Axell can provide customised remotes if required which may be tailored in an almost infinite number of ways including to provide coverage of a specific combination of bands, powered in a unique manner or built into a specific type of enclosure.  Such systems have been used for example in military environments.

Axell DAS systems are easily configured either locally or remotely via a simple GUI interface or using the Axell AEM (Axell Element Manager) system.  Multiple types of wireless modems are supported.
